Mobile is climbing the staircase

AOL yesterday announced the launch of a new M.Site, one specifically optimised for mobiles supporting HTML5.

The new m.site will be specifically well received by users of iPhones and Android smartphones, which have HTML5 support in place.

Along with the launch of their M.Site, Aol have also launched applications for the Android platform, to provide ‘a simple way to read content from some of AOL’s most popular sites.

Aol’s Vice President of Mobile commented in their Press Release:

Android has emerged as a top-tier smartphone platform, [...] So, while we’ll continue to focus on development for multiple mobile platforms, this time, we are releasing an early version of an app on Android first – the AOL app. We’re also releasing DailyFinance, one of the most popular apps on other platforms, on Android. [...] Today’s smartphones offer a completely different experience from the previous generation of WAP-based sites, and AOL will be taking full advantage of the possibilities these new devices can offer, both on the mobile Web and in apps.”
